- ➤ The Chieftain has spotlighted festive holiday light displays across Pueblo at locations such as Posada Drive, Trent Court, and Regency Boulevard. Residents are encouraged to view these festive illuminations during the holiday season. Pueblo Chieftain
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Colorado State Fair in Pueblo earned 23 industry awards from the IAFE convention held in Denver from Dec. 1–4 and the RMAF event in Billings from Nov. 12–14, with officials highlighting a first-place win for its 2025 'Growing the Tradition' campaign. Pueblo Chieftain
- ➤ Pueblo Sister Cities Commission and Boys & Girls Clubs sent digital artwork by 30 young students to the Gunsan International Children’s Art Exhibition held Dec. 8–13 at the Gunsan Art Center in South Korea. The project highlights Pueblo’s growing cultural ties (via a sister city agreement with Gunsan). Pueblo Chieftain
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Black Hills Energy submitted a proposal for an economic development tariff in late November that offers a 30% discount for large businesses. If approved by the Public Utilities Commission as early as April, the plan will bring over 750 jobs & $89 million in revenue to Pueblo over ten years. Pueblo Chieftain
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pueblo City Council voted 6-1 to designate the city park Bath House as a historical landmark. (Friends of City Park) attempted a second effort to save the nearly century-old building after Mayor Heather Graham vetoed a similar plan, and the group will now apply for grant money to fund repairs. - ➤ Colorado District 5 Representative Jeff Crank said a bill to delist gray wolves passed last week should allow for better species management — he noted 20 to 30 wolves have inhabited the state since 2023 and the legislation now awaits Senate review. KOAA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A recent survey by Bisnar Chase shows that 8% of Coloradans reported a Christmas decoration injury, with glass ornaments causing half the cases + many households admitting unsafe methods like using chairs instead of ladders and leaving lights on overnight. Pueblo Chieftain
